Another Time

Don't you just love looking at the inside of a watch or clock?
The gears and intricacy of it are fascinating.
One of my sweet customers, Lora saw my post about
this necklace I made for myself out of a watch movement and
asked if I'd create one for her.
I added a little organza ribbon to her chain to
give it a more feminine look.  I've got a whole jar full
of various watch faces and parts, and I love them so
much that it makes me indecisive about
what to do with them.  It was nice
to have something specific to use one for.

Giving Them a Home - Adopted Ancestors

I've added some new "ancestors" in the shop this week.
I love decorating with antique photographs.  
They add a lot of charm to a vintage vignette.
Each is unique and it's fun to image who the people
are in the photos and envision the lives they led.

This photo is of Phillip Fengel & "wife".
I envision them as hard-working German immigrants,
getting a photograph taken that they could display in their home place.
There was a large German immigrant population in the 
town where this photo was taken, so it's possible.
It's fun to wonder...
 I love this photo of a group of women.  
I'm guessing they were related, as their "body language"
seems relaxed and comfortable with each other.
 Another wonderful photo of a young couple.
I love her dress and spectacles.
 This is a photo from the 20's.
What was it like to live in that era, I wonder.
I'm not crazy about the hair styles back then,
but her clothes are wonderful and she looks to have been
a stylish gal.
It's a little sad that old photos don't remain with
the family heirs, but I think those people would
be glad to know that someone brought their
photo home, loves it and gives it a good home.

Knick of Time Tuesday #27 {Vintage Style Link Party}

Good Pickin's

I would loved to have filled my van on our trip to Springfield, MO,
but 4 people & their luggage meant I had to somewhat limit myself.
I tried to mainly purchase for my shop, but I did pick up a few things for myself.

This old tape measure is my favorite find of the week.  
I don't know what I'll do with it yet, but I'm sure I'll think of something.
 I also got this old barn pulley that we'll probably use in our kitchen.
These lovely old coffee jars will also go in my kitchen.
These old, wooden dominoes are unusually thick.

This terrific, shabby bird cage is available HERE.
These trivets are adorable.  I think they'd be perfect
as small dry erase boards.

I'm not sure what this originally was, but I plan to paint it and turn it into an earring holder.
I love old brushes.  I think they make great stands for old photos.
This rusty, old bicycle seat has been around the block and back a few times.
I was tempted to keep it, but don't really know where
I'd go with it, so it's listed HERE.
I love this old drill and worn wooden spoon.
I plan to keep them both.
I was on the lookout for vintage wire baskets and found 2 of them.
The funny thing is, when we got home, my husband starting cleaning
out the garage and discovered I have one just like this that I'd 
forgotten about.  I bought it right before we moved and it got
boxed up before I could start using it.
Since returning home, I've been cleaning & organizing my office & workshop,
which had become a disaster over the winter.  Now that basketball season is over for us, I'm looking forward to staying home more often and hopefully accomplishing a lot.
